Sculpting ‘The Bust’

Location:         Ruberto Ostberg Gallery (2108 – 18 Street NW)

Dates:             May 6th to May 13th 2017 Inclusive

Time:               9:00am to 4:00pm

Length:            (48 Hours) (Saturday thru Saturday – 8 Days total)

Cost:                $680 (materials included)

Deposit:           $250 due April 15th 2017 (no refund on deposit if the class runs)

This course consists or 48 hours of instruction and features creating a ‘Bust’ (portrait) from a live model. The class will run daily from 9:00am to 4:00pm with a 1 hour lunch break. This course is limited to 8 students. Beginning, intermediate and advanced students of sculpture are welcome to join this intensive course. Students will spend the first 2 days studying the structure of the head and working on a human skull, neck and shoulders in clay. The next 5 days will be spent working on the ‘Bust’ in clay.  The final day will be devoted to hollowing the work and preparing it for firing.

Upon payment of the deposit, students will be registered and receive course related literature. The remainder of payment will be due on the first day of class and may be in the form of cash, cheque or e-transfer. Minimum enrollment requirement for this studio workshop is 8. Students will be notified May 1st if this number is not reached before the first day of class. This course includes all materials and tools (students may bring their own wood modeling tools).
